To celebrate our 9th birthday we sat down with our Founder and Creative Director, Isabelle, as she shares nine valuable lessons she's learned over the last nine years in business

    1. Get organised – How you spend your time is so imperative. Focus on tasks that align with your strengths and delegate those that do not.
    2. Get quotes - As a business owner, it is essential to be resourceful and deliberate with your financial resources. Take the time to compare prices and ensure you are finding the best value for your money.
    3. Surround yourself with the best. You reflect those around you, so having uplifting, driven, and intelligent people in your business adds immense value. You don't know everything, and having others who bring fresh ideas and new perspectives can be game-changing.
    4. Analyse - Through trial and error, learning to critically assess numbers and identify missed opportunities has significantly excelled the business. Take the time to really dive deep, fine tune & pivot.
    5. Consistency is key – Success is not always linear, but being able to persist and be consistent even in the hard times has been a major contributor to the success of the brand and why I’m still here 9 years later.
    6. Learn - Be open to absorbing as much knowledge as possible. This includes enhancing your business skills but also understanding your customers and community. By identifying needs and contributing effectively, you can better serve your community. Without them, you don’t have a business.

    7. Find a mentor – Finding a mentor who was able to help guide and help me upskill has been so valuable to my business. She taught me so much I will be forever grateful for.
    8. Communication & respect – Creating a brand is one challenge; effectively leading a team is another. As our brand expands, I've realised the importance of fostering and guiding my team. This requires clear communication and mutual respect. The same principles extend to our external partners, such as our manufacturers and crochet team in Bali.
    9. Business can be tough – Be prepared to engage in every department, including accounts, marketing, customer service, and design. Starting your own business involves diverse responsibilities, requiring you to dip your toes into everything. While it can be challenging, it becomes extremely rewarding!
